Austin grew up in Waukee, IA and graduated from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD with a BA in biology, religion, and Spanish. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN and became ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America in 2022. Austin loves connecting with people and seeing how God is at work in their lives. In his free time he enjoys all things outdoors – especially running, hunting, and fishing.
Wendy Towne is our Office Manager and has been with us since 2021.
Wendy grew up in Hanley Falls, MN and went to SMSU where she received a Bachelors Degree in Business Finance. She previously worked full time in corporate marketing, finance and administration roles for 20 years before staying home. Most recently she was a part time patient care coordinator at a chiropractic clinic. In her spare time Wendy enjoys being on the bleachers supporting the kids’ sports activities, going for walks, reading, and connecting with friends. Wendy, her husband Anton, and their kids live in Marshall.
Katie Brockberg has been the Director and Lead Teacher at St. Stephen Preschool since 2021.
She is from Lake Crystal, MN, and graduated from Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School in New Ulm. She continued her education at SMSU, where she earned a BA in Early Childhood Education. For 11 years prior to joining St. Stephen Preschool she was a licensed Family Child Care provider in Marshall.
In her spare time she enjoys being outside, crafting, playing board games with her 3 daughters and her husband Zach, as well as running her children to all their activities.
Julie Meyer is our new Financial Assistant at St. Stephen and has been with us since February 2023.
She grew up in Le Mars, IA and attended college at SMSU and received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Social Science. She works full-time for First Interstate Bank as a Branch Operations Specialist and volunteers as the Treasurer for the Marshall Tiger Dance Team Boosters. In her spare time she enjoys taking in her kids’ sports activities, reading, taking their dog on walks and taking in concerts! Julie lives in Marshall with her husband Barry and two kids, Braden & Jada.
Lisa Rosenboom is an Assistant Teacher at the St. Stephen Preschool. She's been a member of St. Stephen since 2001. Her family includes her husband Torey, and her children Aidan, Logan, Kaitlyn and Emily.
Lisa enjoys quilting, crafts, scrapbooking, spending time at the lake, and watching her kids' activities, including Dance and Cross Country
Melissa Doose has been an assistant teacher at St. Stephen Lutheran Preschool since January 2019. Her and her husband Nathan live in Marshall with their three children, Miranda, Paige, and Carson. They have been members of St. Stephen for 16 years.
Melissa enjoys teaching Sunday School, serving on the Altar Guild, and serving as a Confirmation Huddle Guide Leader. In her spare time she likes making crafts, reading, cooking/baking, and attending their children’s activities. She also owns a photography business and volunteers as co-chair for the Southwest Figure Skating Club’s annual ice show.
She loves teaching because she can impact children’s lives, watch them grow and reach milestones.
Michaela Abels is in her 3rd year at SMSU. She is originally from Hills, Mn which is the most southwestern town in MN. At SMSU Michaela is majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Special Education, with an additional license in reading instruction. Micheala is one of two children, and has a younger brother. Some of her interests include reading, hiking, hanging out with family and friends, attending and volunteering at her home church, and playing the clarinet, guitar, and piano.
Mary Hauschild has been an organist at St. Stephen Lutheran almost 43 years. Her family consists of two brothers and one sister. Mary works at Casey's General Store on Main Street in Marshall as a cashier. Her hobbies include playing the accordion, organ, and piano. She enjoys playing Mexican Train (a type of Dominoes), playing ladder golf, working crossword puzzles, playing online games, and watching reruns on television.
