YOUTH AND FAMILY

Heather Fossum is our full-time Youth & Family Minister (lay position). Along with the Youth & Family Ministries Board, she coordinates and leads ministry opportunities for our Elementary, Jr. High, and Sr. High groups.

ELEMENTARY:

  • Good News Bearers  – Grades 3-5 – Meets Wednesday’s after school from 3:15-4:45 p.m.  It is intended to help youth in grade school become familiar and knowledgeable about Bible stories by providing a variety of experiential avenues including drama, crafts, singing, games and devotion.
  • On our Toes for HIM – Grades 3-6 – Meets Monday’s after school until 4:30.  We praise God through movement.
  • Jubilee Choir – Grades 1-5 – Meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 6-6:30 in the Sanctuary.  We praise the Lord through music in a variety of different ways, through, singing, playing instruments, movement and more!
  • Shetek Retreats / Camps – Throughout the year Shetek holds retreats that we are able to attend, such as Octoberfest, Winter Fun Day and Spring Fling.  Shetek is also a wonderful camp to attend during the summer months with a variety of camp options to choose from.
  • Day Camp – Held in the summer for a week full of games, worship, bible studies, crafts and more.  College age staff from Shetek runs it.

JR. HIGH:

  • Jr. FISH (Faith In Serving Him) meets on Sunday mornings at 9:15 in the Youth Room.  
  • SW MN Synod Jr. High Youth Gathering held in November in Willmar – Jr. Higher’s are highly encouraged to attend this amazing event put on by the synod.  Over 800 kids get together to praise God and have tons of fun!
  • Klein Ranch – located in northern SD, at this camp, the youth will have many opportunities to ride horse, experience worship in a Native American Church or hike through the mini badlands.  They’ll have opportunities to make new friends and meet wonderful counselors.  This is an experience they will never forget.
  • Lock-ins, concerts and so much more!!!

SR. HIGH:

  • Sr. High FISH (Faith In Serving Him) meets on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the Youth Room. FISH is a time for youth to hang out see where God is in their everyday lives.
  • Summer Trips are on a three-year rotation of:
  1. ELCA National Youth Gathering
  2. Mission / Servant Trip
  3. High Adventure Trip (BWCA, back-packing, etc)

No one will be turned away for inability to pay!
